Pierre Pezziardi - Technical Director of OCTO Technology
« We have chosen the NGO ACTED as its practical and pragmatic culture is close to
ours. Thus we have suggested to volunteer consultants of our structure to involve
themselves in humanitarian aids about our core business. »
« This project fits with our values and makes internal cohesion stronger
on projects which are different from our star customers’ ones. We can practice innovating
approaches (pattern communication, incremental development driven by tests).

Marie-Pierre Caley - Head of OXUS, Acted subsidiary
« Today micro finance is one of the most powerful tool against poverty.
To succeed it needs rigorous financial competences in management. »
« That’s why the expertise of OCTO is determining for us. They’re giving
echo first to our expectations and needs in information systems and then to our
development ambitions. »
Alexis LEBEL -
Chief Financial Officer - OXUS Afghanistan
« OXUS Afghanistan was managing its customers
with excel tables until OCTOPUS was set-up in its branches. The reporting process
was very time consuming and the risk of mistakes very high. All branches of OXUS
Afghanistan are now using OCTOPUS and it has been bringing a huge relief to the
IT staff and branch managers, as they do not need to spend time on the excel files
anymore and can allocate better the human resources where they are needed.
The HQ in Kabul does not have to struggle with huge excel databases to produce
its reports to donors and can also enjoy more frequent reporting from its branches,
and is more confident about the accuracy of data sent as there is much less room
for mistakes.
Altogether, OCTOPUS has brought drastic changes to OXUS Afghanistan and the
automatization of the loan tracking process enables OXUS Afghanistan to focus on
more important matters : monitor performance and serve its customers better. »
Nicolas Mangin, consultant of OCTO Technology - Nicolas Baron,
consultant of OCTO Technology
« We have been involved in this project since October 2005 thanks to Julien
Cabot. He was in charge of our studying project. He gave us the opportunity
to be involved, with OCTO teams, in the creation of micro credit software in order
to help a NGO.
The fist version of Octopus came in May 2006. As we were more than enthusiastic about
this first success thanks to OCTO teams especially Pierre Pezziardi, technical director,
we decided to carry on the development of Octopus.
In the early September, the software was implemented in Tadzhikistan and soon after,
in Afghanistan.
This particular project has been asking highest involvement. But it allowed us to
improve our technical competences and get strong learnings in the micro finance
field, which will be really useful in our job. »
